Lip Sync 2018 – From Elvis to Alice

RATON — On August 1, the Gonzales family obnce again presented a great program of local people who ‘lip synced’ their way into our hearts. Eileen, Robert and Robynn and Robbi have been working for about 30 years to create a community showcase of performers for the cause of diabetes. Many local people suffer with this disease and the horrific expenses that come with it are not always paid for by insurance, so Lip Sync raises money every year to offset some of these expenses and provides equipment, supplies and travel assistance to local people.

This year, playing to a capacity audience for two nights, the magic happened once again. Both Eileen and Robert have stepped back a bit and their children, Robynn (Gonzales- Salazar) and Robi Gonzales have stepped forward to continue this worthwhile tradition.

Winners of this year’s Lip Sync were: 1st Place – ‘The Thing’ by Phil Harris and performed by James Vigil, Shyanne Lucero, Don Marquez, Shyloh Reynolds and Donald Reynolds. 2nd Place – ‘No Excuses’ by Megan Trainor and performed by Hailey Flores, Stephanie Flores, Michael Neurauter and Anna Hidalgo. 3rd Place – ‘The Other Side’ by The Greatest Showman and performed by Alan Dominquez and Christian Padilla. 4th Place – ‘Kid in a Candy Store’ by JoJo Siwa and performed by Allie Ruiz.

Sharing Honorable Mention were – ‘Rotten to the Core’ by Decendents and performed by Gabriella, Isabella and Dominic Sanchez. and – ‘Schools Out’ by Alice Cooper and performed by Chicky Lee Gomez, Tyler Lee Gomez and Jaylynn Rose Quintana, Kayleigh Rae Quintana and Joni Rae Quintana.

Thanks to all the performers who worked so hard to put on such a great show!
