TRINIDAD/RATON — “If an 8 year old with a dream can make it reality, so can anyone! Don’t ever give up on your dreams! Not even in the face of chaos!” – Loren M. Urquijo, Sculptures of Rust vocalist.

Heavy metal music fans from all around will be flocking to the Trinidad/Raton area this weekend for the 3rd Annual Anthem Music MetalFest. In the past two years, it was a one-day event, but due to its growing popularity and the fact that everyone who comes has a great time, the organizers have crafted a bigger (and more fun) event this year.

To kick off the festivities, there will be a FREE pre-fest party at Brix Sports Bar & Grill on Friday, September 7, at 8 pm. This will feature Sonic Vomit, VaTiC, Dakota Ave., Scepter of Eligos, and Sculptures of Rust. The following day, Anthem Music MetalFest will kick off it all its glory. Beginning at 2 pm at Harrelson Pavillion, 175 Highway 555 in Raton NM, the festival will be headlined by Just Lizzy – a Thin Lizzy tribute band hailing all the way from Gothenburg, Sweden. The order of performances will be Embelisk, Doom Blade, Subzenith, Blood Wolf, Horrid Demise, Warlike Wolves, Rise as Legends, Sons of Icarus, Cryptic Writings, Distant Warning, and Just Lizzy. Main Street Tattoo will also be present, ready, and willing to ink in the moment.

All bands performing at this year’s Metalfest are coming from areas as far as Denver and Albuquerque and even some from Amarillo. Many have performed at both of the first two festivals and are considered Anthem veterans, so the organizing committee is honored to have them return. “Even if you’re not a fan of heavy metal music, the environment is very friendly and we guarantee a great time.” said J. Spade, assistant coordinator of Anthem Music Metalfest.

The event committee consists of 36 persons who all came together to work on what they all love to make the event a great and enjoyable success. Thanks to Brix, Raton Rodeo Association, and sponsors of the entire event CannaCoCBD and New Legends Magazine. Other event sponsors are KRTN, Candelario’s Mercado, High Desert Outdoors, Bruno’s Pizza and Wings, IceHouse Resturant, R&D Honda, Carquest, RMT Plumbling, Raton Pass Motor Inn, Mission at the Bell, Robert Sanchez Welding, Panhandle Oilfield Services and Enchanted Grounds. Special mention to Tascosa Office and Matt Bachand of Manshark Entertainment.

Tickets to this fun event are $18 and can be purchased at Anthem Music, High Desert Outdoors, Candelario’s Mercado, or at the door.
