TRINIDAD — ‘Out of the Ordinary,’ the title of Paul Milosavich’s major publication, well defines him. A student of A R Mitchell, he invented his own style, southwestern or west Texas realism. His eye for detail and technical skills enabled him to move beyond the master who taught him even though at times that found him painting in his ‘space suit’ to avoid the negative reaction he had toward the chemistry of his medium. As a result, many of his most notable works were the more than 100 charcoal portraits of western musicians which earned him a place in the ‘Buddy Holly Walk of Fame.’
Currently, Milosavich is at work on a large public mural for the new Holly Performing Arts Center in Lubbock, although he works mostly out of Santa Fe. An avid golfer, Milosavich had another significant commission from the Professional Golfers Association when he painted the official team portrait of the 1999 Ryder Cup players along with portraits of other notable golfers.
