RATON — The 2018 July 4th Fireworks in Raton went off without a hitch Wednesday night, with spectators gathered all along Historic First Street in Downtown Raton from Ripley Park south to Mora Ave.
Spectators could be found at various other locations in Raton such as Goat Hill and the Ice House who hosted a fireworks party along with dinner and a movie put on by the Scifi Alliance of Raton. The Alliance showed the film Independence Day at the El Raton movie theater.
The fireworks display is put on by the Raton Fire and Emergency Services who spent a few days before the fourth going around Raton collecting donations for the display. Raton Mainstreet members also helped out in the collections during the day by passing the boot around at the parade and during the festivities on First Street earlier Wednesday.
The display lasted about 25 minutes.
