Raton resident receives Presidential Lifetime Service Award

RATON — Raton’s Cathie Rush has been making a BBQ dinner for local firefighters everywhere that she has lived since 9/11 to honor their bravery and service. Remy Garcia, Director for Senior Corps Programs in Colfax County, made Cathie’s day brighter by awarding her the Presidential Lifetime Service Award Pin. The firefighters came to give their appreciation for her faithful service at the old fire station on September 11.

Remy Garcia had this to say,’ I will be awarding this service pin for a lifetime achievement award from the President of the United States to a very special volunteer. This person has gone above and beyond to serve our community and honor the lives of those lost on 9/11. She is an outstanding and valued member of our small community and I am proud to call her my friend.”

Thank you Cathie and thank you firefighters!
