Friends, fur, and fun on the farm!
Illumination’s second installment of The Secret Life of Pets is now playing.

Max (Patton Oswald), a loyal if nervous terrier, must cope with major life changes when his owner Katie adds a husband and child, Liam, to the family. On a trip to the countryside, Max is confronted by feral foxes, a menacing turkey, and Rooster (Harrison Ford), a no-nonsense farm dog who attempts to help Max overcome his fears.

While away, Max asks Gidget (Jenny Slate), a sweet Pomeranian, to care for his favorite toy, Busy Bee. Hilarity ensues after Gidget loses the beloved toy in the resident cat lady’s apartment, and must enlist Chloe (Lake Bell), a spoiled feline, for help. Meanwhile, an adorable, costume-wearing rabbit named Snowball (Kevin Hart), the now-domesticated villain from the previous film, and Daisy (Tiffany Haddish), a sassy shih tzu, embark on a mission to rescue a white tiger named Hu from a sadistic handler with a travelling circus.

“I liked when that lady with the cats was driving and she just hit that guy with her car.” – Cloud Smith, NLM Junior Correspondent

Train-top chases, cat-driven cars, kung fu fights, and musical numbers will keep children of all ages entertained through the 86-minute run time. While the multiple storylines and characters feel convoluded at times, the film’s overall message of believing in yourself to overcome fears and anxiety stands the test of time. The humor in the film is kid-friendly, although some darker scenes and implications of animal abuse may frighten or upset very young children.
