Third Judicial District judge finalists selected

Governor to appoint new county and district court judges

LAS ANIMAS/HUERFANO — The Third Judicial District Nominating Commission has nominated three candidates for a Las Animas County court judgeship created by the retirement of the Hon. Bruce Billings, effective Jan. 8, 2019. Nominees Matthew P. Holmes of Trinidad, John C. McKisson III of La Veta, and John D. Mochel of Highlands Ranch were selected in a meeting Aug. 29, 2018.

The Third Judicial District Nominating Commission has nominated three candidates for a district court judgeship created by the retirement of the Hon. Claude W. Appel, effective Jan. 8, 2019. Nominees Christopher S. Gregory of Fort Collins, Dawn M. Mann of Pueblo, and John C. McKisson III of La Veta were selected by the commission on Aug. 29, 2018.

Under the Colorado Constitution, the governor has 15 days from Aug. 30, 2018, within which to appoint one of the nominees as district court judge for the Third Judicial District (Huerfano and Las Animas counties).
