A decision voters will make in the upcoming election will change the future for Trinidad’s students. The future leaders of our community depends on the voice of its citizens.
Since 2009 the Negative Factor and mid-year cuts have reduced TSD1 funding by $11, 247,626. The only way the district can collect additional operational dollars is to ask the citizens of Trinidad to support the bond issue and mill levy override campaigns.
Since the 2000 bond issue passed with the purpose of building Fisher’s Peak Elementary School, the remaining three buildings continued to deteriorate. The purpose of the general obligation bond is to take advantage of the Building Excellent Schools Today grant to renovate Trinidad Middle School. The purpose of the mill levy override is to provide student safety and security ($35 million deferred maintenance) at Eckhart Elementary School, Fisher’s Peak Elementary School and Trinidad High School; upgrade technology and transportation; and provide a competitive teacher salary for retention and recruitment.
It is essential for a thriving and strong community to have an educational system that successfully educates all students. TSD1 students are counting on your vote to help move the district forward!
