TRINIDAD — A second arrest was made this week in the brutal murder case of Murrice Mitchell. Angel Maria (Griego) Waln, of Trinidad was taken into custody and booked in the Las Animas County Jail, charged with a number of felonies including Conspiracy to commit murder in the first degree, count 1; conspiracy to commit murder in the first degree count 2; conspiracy to commit murder in the second degree count 1; conspiracy to commit kidnapping in the first degree count 1; conspiracy to commit kidnapping in the first degree count 2; accessory to crime counts one, two, three, four, five and 6; introducing contraband in the first degree; and unlawful possession of a schedule ii substance.
The body of Mitchell, 39, was found on May 9, 2018 off County Road 43.7 about two miles west of Aguilar, Colorado.
Domenic Damelio, 20, of Trinidad was arrested in late May after a short standoff with Trinidad Police on Burlington Street in Trinidad for his alleged part in the shooting of Mitchell and was charged with first degree murder, second degree murder, and first degree kidnapping. Damelio is being held at the Las Animas County Jail without bond.
